Have you read “Rise of the Rocket Girls” by Nathalia Holt? Have you seen the “Hidden Figures” movie by Theodore Melfi (see below)? Are you interested to meet a truly outstanding representative of the first generation of coders?
Then join us during an exclusive female lunch event organized by CECAM, NCCR Marvel and the Equal Opportunities Office where Mary Ann Mansigh Karlsen, computer pioneer, will tell you more of her career in breaking through gender barriers and supporting the physics research done at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).

The event will consist of a presentation in English, between 12:15 and 13:00, followed by informal discussions where you will be able to ask any kind of questions. Sandwiches, coffee and cakes will be offered at the event.

Mary Ann Mansingh Karlsen will also give a lecture on Thursday November 15th @ 17.30 in CO1 where she will tell us her fascinating story, sharing her experiences as a coder at Livermore over a period of almost thirty years, and providing a unique insight on the scientific and technological development of computer simulation from the early days of molecular dynamics in the late 1950, to the mid 1980s.
