On 11-12 June 2022 the Swiss Drone Days took place near Zurich, with the world’s first AI vs Human drone race.
Throughout the event, over 1.000 visitors watched races between the world’s best drone pilots and the AI-powered drones from Scaramuzza’s lab. The team successfully demonstrated that AI-powered drones are capable of outperforming even the world’s best pilots: drones surpassed both Alex Vanover, 2019 world champion of the Drone Racing League, and Thomas Bitmatta, 2019 world champion of the MultiGP International league.
On the first day of the Swiss Drone Days, the NTN Innovation Booster Robotics organised an event composed of a conference and matchmaking activities dedicated to the thematic of drone technology.
The event included presentations from academia and industry/associations and was moderated by Eszter Kovacs, member of DIAS (Drone Industry Association Switzerland) and Co-founder of DroneTalks.
The list of academic speakers included Mirko Kovac (EMPA), Fabiola Maffra (ETH Zürich), Michel Guillaume (ZHAW School of Engineering, Center of Aviation), Dario Floreano (EPFL) and Davide Scaramuzza (UZH).
In the industry session, the event welcomed Lorenzo Murzilli (Murzilli Consulting), Marcel Kägi (Federal Office of Civil Aviation Switzerland), Nicolas Ackermann (SBB), Jonathan Müller (Fotokite), Romeo Durscher (Auterion) and Guillaume Catry (WindShape).
About 60 people from academia, industry and associations attended the event, including international participants.
