Open position: Sensory-Motor Systems Lab

16. December 2020

The Sensory-Motor Systems (SMS) Lab at ETH Zurich is looking for a motivated candidate to pursue a PhD  (~4 years) starting in early 2021.  The SMS Lab designs wearable robots to help people with motor disabilities in their daily life. We do this through an iterative user-centered, data-driven approach that involves fast prototyping, biomechanical analysis and collection of feedback from users and stakeholders. The successful candidate will build on existing work from the SMS Lab and collaborate with the ETH spin-off, MyoSwiss, to lead the design, development and validation of a soft wearable robot that supports the upper limbs, both during physical rehabilitation therapy and activities of daily living. Your profile:

  • You hold a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or related field
  • You are motivated, organized, resourceful and persistent
  • You have strong skills in scientific writing and presentation
  • You have experience or strong interest in control engineering and embedded systems for robotics
  • Ideally, you have experience with wearable robotics and/or assistive technologies
