A call for papers for the NCCR Robotics’ Chili Lab’s workshop is now open.
The workshop ‘PREC2019: Personal Robots for Exercising and Coaching‘ will be held in conjunction with HRI2019 – 14th Annual ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human Robot Interaction conference, in Korea.
Call for papers: December 12th, 2018
Submission deadline: January 10th, 2019
Notification of acceptance: February 10th, 2019
This full-day workshop will offer a forum for researchers from a variety of backgrounds to discuss the potentials and limitations of using social robots as a tool for rehabilitation, to promote physical activity, and coach people to be more active. By taking interdisciplinary views into account, we hope to provide an educational forum for representatives of each discipline to establish a common understanding of design methodologies to match the needs of potential target groups.
We want to discuss how different technologies can be used to influence people’s motivation to start and adhere to an exercise regime or to increase their physical activity level. Primarily, we want to discuss the requirements of robots for target groups (e.g., people with ASD or CVD) and concentrate on design methodologies for such user groups. We target an interdisciplinary dialogue between physiotherapists, psychologists, computer scientists, roboticists and clinicians to discuss how personal robots might be useful for promoting physical activity and in rehabilitation with a focus on target user groups.
